Parenting...

...just a couple of thoughts that I'm drawing from.

This entire article is great advice!  Here is one quote:

"In our day, many children grow up with distorted values because we as parents overindulge them. Whether you are well-to-do or, like most of us, of more modest means, we as parents often attempt to provide children with almost everything they want thus taking away from them the blessing of anticipating, of longing for something they do not have. One of the most important things we can teach our children is to deny themselves. Instant gratification generally makes for weak people. How many truly great individuals do you know who never had to struggle?"
~Joe J. Christensen, “Greed, Selfishness, and Overindulgence,” Ensign, May 1999

That was awesome! :D I can testify to the fact that selfless service make life worth living! ;) The thing that always amazes me is that the more I try to do for others, the happier I am; honestly... I try so hard to lift others and serve them, FOR THEM -but it always turns out that the experience lift me as well!

And I really agree with you that struggling makes people better. What better way to struggle is there than sacrificing to serve another? SERVICE ROCKS! :D

I read somewhere that the most important thing for future college students to overcome is "impulse."

Great post!
